The Giveaways Team
Over the years, Rowan University has developed lasting relationships with companies all over the world. When the A-Team rolled out their first small scale, intimate career fair called Effective Engagement with Employers (E^3), The Giveaways Team was assembled to create functional and aesthetically pleasing products to express gratitude to the industry guests. These projects challenge students to bring an artistic twist to engineering, while still considering the real-world constraints of manufacturing, time management, and mass production. Each product often combines mechanical, electrical, artistic, and trade skills all into a single project. Some of our projects include custom engraved glasses, acrylic centerpieces, leather keychains, and personalized plaques (as seen in the images above and below). Students learn valuable product development skills, process engineering, as well as receive training on Rowan's extensive prototyping and manufacturing equipment.
As the Mechanical and Design Lead for this team, it is my job to create beatuiful and accurate 3D models, evaluate the manufacturability of the team's designs, and ensure the effective integration between the mechanical and electrical components.

BonFire
I designed this Bonfire Giveaway to present to the employers on behalf of the A-Team at the Fall 2019 E^3 event. The design for this particular product required extensive collaboration between the ME, ECE, and Art students on the team as well as experimentation with new manufacturing techniques to bring to life the creative vision of the team's artists. The design was inspired by the Rowan Torch logo and features a student-designed neopixel PCB and decorative flames printed in clear resin on Rowan's brand new, state-of-the-art Form 3 SLA printer. I printed the bowl from wood-infused PLA and stained it in Red Mahogany woodstain. The annodized aluminum nameplates were milled out on a PCB mill and were laser etched in-house. | Fall 2019

Fire Bowl
This Giveaway was designed for the Spring 2019 E^3 event as a token of appreciation for the employers in attendance. The peice features 3 panes of crystal clear acrylic, laser etched on Rowan's BossLaser 1630. The wooden base profile was hand cut from cedar and laser etched. The center slot was CNC milled then the base was sanded and finished with red mahogany woodstain. | Spring 2019

LED Company Plaque
After seeing the work we produced for the first E^3 event, the Rowan Office of Career Advancement reached out to the Giveaways Team to design a high-quality table marker for each of the 180 companies slated to attend the University's Spring 2018 Career Fair. Some of the main specifications included making the company name clearly visible from at least 10 feet away, adhering to the university's strict design standards, as well as keeping the overall price per unit to under $20 apiece. The 1/4 inch acrylic panels were laser etched with nothing but the company name on the front, and the rest of the standard text and logo on the back. This was done to optimize the production process so that the back panels could be mass-produced, and the front panels could be custom engraved as the full list of company names gradually trickled down to us. The base was cut and milled from a solid piece of cedar and finished with a Red Mahogany wood stain. I houses two AA batteries along with a PCB designed and milled by two of the team's ECE students. Unfortunately, due to external supply-chain issues with the acrylic vendor, we were not able to produce the full 180 units by the client's deadline. This project has been placed on hold and is slated to resume for one of the University's upcoming career fairs. | Spring 2018
